Year 4 Number Line

I am still on prac in Year 4 and we have just finished making our class pizza and looking at the fraction maths within it. The students understanding of fractions is now becoming stronger, and it is time to move on and apply this knowledge of parts within a whole to other concepts - number lines.

The activity that we have been doing over the last few days is focused on placing decimals on the number line in the classroom. We have a literal line and have made individual decimal numbers on cards, and each card includes the written words, numerals and a picture of the decimal/fraction. Together the children have placed tenths, fifths, thirds, halves and quarters onto the number line which ranges from 0 -2.
